It's my 1st blogiversary, so RAID MY STASH!

Tomorrow morning marks the 1-year anniversary of The Enchanted Bobbin.  Yay!

I started this blog on a whim: the previous month I had set up two "closed" discussion-oriented blogs for the graduate and undergraduate fairy tale classes I was teaching, and had discovered how simple it was to use blogger (at least for the basics...).  My dad wanted to start a blog, so armed with my new knowledge I helped him get it going -- Still A Brooklyn Kid is a small masterpiece, an outlet for his fabulous writing, his humour, and his wide-ranging knowledge.  He says he started his blog as a gift to me and my kids, but I know that his articles on music, baseball, and Brooklyn's past have a much bigger audience than just our family.  He was even mentioned in Huffington Post!  That's my daddy.

And then I started The Enchanted Bobbin, with only the vaguest sense of what I would use it for and what it might mean to me.  I thought I would wrap my scholarly work in with crafting (I had been quilting for about a year at that point), but the past 12 months have been very intense for me, career-wise, with plenty of outlets for my critical writing. This is an understatement, but you need not be troubled with the details (!).  Anyway,  I found that having this venue, this blog, as a separate space -- one where I could write as casually as I wanted, about passions that are farfarfar from my work -- was an absolute blessing!  I have loved it.

Although my readership is quite small, relatively speaking, the encouragement and feedback and ideas you all have offered me mean more than I can convey here.  Having this little virtual community is so precious.  When faced with stress and pressure in other realms of my life (yes, it has been an intense year), crafting and the 'Bobbin have helped me to keep everything in balance.  THANK YOU!

Okay, off my pedestal now, and on to the good stuff: it's time for a GIVEAWAY!

As some of you are aware, I have a significant stash of fabric -- and I want to send 4 generously-cut fat quarters to one of my readers.

Please leave me a comment letting me know what part of your stash you would like to enhance -- specifically if you're looking for more fabric in a specific colour family.  OR let me know if one of these combos appeals to you: perhaps you would like to have FQs from a selection of out-of-print "Katie Jump Rope" by Denyse Schmidt?  Hmmmm?

Or maybe you would be able to provide a good home for some FQs of "Metro Living" circles? What do you say?

The giveaway will close at midnight EST on Monday, February 27th.  To enter, just leave a comment -- and if you're a follower, please let me know in a second comment so you can double your chances at winning a little fabric in your preferred colourway (or from one of the bundles above).

Hey, one of the benefits of reading a small blog is that your chances of winning a giveaway are really pretty good!!

Have a wonderful day,

XO

Yay, you! Congrats on one year of blogging! I haven't been with you since the very beginning but I have been following you for at least half of that... I very much enjoy the creativity and inspiration I find here! I do love the Metro Circles... my stash is sadly lacking in solids (boo) so I need to work on that! Cheers!

Congrats on 1 year. I've enjoyed reading your blog since we started Farmer's Wife QAL about the same time. Now I really do need to get back to that and the hex-along.....too many projects and I'm too easily distracted by new ones. I'm not a follower I am subscribed to your blog in my RSS. How generous of you to give away some of your stash.....I just love the Katie Jump Rope.

Congrats on your blogiversary - good times! I am especially low on yellow...though I would be thrilled with the Katie Jump Rope (have none) OR Metro Living (a fav!). What a generous offer!

Congratulations on your year anniversary!
I had no idea you studies fairytales, as I type this I have the book Animus and Anima in Fairy Tales by Marie-Lousie Von Franz on the table next to me (interesting but blinking hard going!)
My stash is missing dots in a big way so your Metro circles would receive pride of place in my stash :)
Thanks for a chance to win!

Oh I follow you too :D

Congrats on the first year - I have also been surprised at how important my blog has become to me.
I tidied my scraps the other day there and found my "reds" quite low but if I won I would be happy with anything.x

I've been popping in since the Big Wheels Wedding Quilt - I hadn't realised how new your blog was then! Congrats on your 1st blogiversary :)
Those Katie Jumps Rope FQs are very tempting (but so are the Metro circles, lol). Despite having entered into 2 colour wheel charm swaps I found it incredibly difficult to find nice rainbow saturated prints to make up a block. I'm currently resisting the urge to search online :)
Thanks for the lovely giveaway.

I don't feel right entering your giveaway, but I just wanted to say Happy 1 year Bloggaversary! I can't believe it's already been a year, and you continue to inspire me to become more efficient with my crafting time - if a full-time professor and author and mother of 3 can make time to sew, I really shouldn't have any excuses. Thanks for the virtual "kick in the butt"!

I love the metro living circles - I haven't managed to find any yet! but then again I missed out completely on Katie Jump Rope!

Happy blogiversary! Ahh, how I love to hear those sweet three little words, "raid my stash" ...!

I'm not sure I need to build any specific part of my stash right now, but those "Katie Jump Rope" FQs are adorable - I wonder if they'd coordinate with Moda's Hoopla line in the reds and blues? I'd be lucky to get to find out! Thanks for the chance to win!

Happy bloggiversary! Very generous of you to share your stash :-) I'm a bit low on purple and red, however the only DS I've been able to get has been a bit of Hope Valley, so some Katie Jump Rope (or any other DS!) would be amazing, thank you!

I am already a follower of your blog too

Congratulations on your blogiversary!! And how lovely of you to celebrate by sharing your fabric! I love the circles but if I'm lucky enough to win I'd quite like a surprise! (As long as it's not brown or cream - is that being too fussy?!) Thank you!

Congrats on your blogiversary. How lovely you want to share your stash. Big DS fan and I'm making a Hope Valley Quilt at the moment. Love that circle bundle too. As for what my stash is really short of - yellow and purple. I tend to wear a lot of purple but rarely see nice modern fabrics in purple. Yellow was always a least favourite colour that I've completely changed my mind about. Anything would be a lovely surprise though! :-)

Congratulations on your blogiversary, I have only just found your blog via life's rich pattern. I am looking for fabric to do a traditional farmer's wife quilt, plus scraps to build the tiny houses I have seen.

Happy blogiversary! I went on a bit of an aqua binge last year and now it feels like that's all I have! I really want to improve my reds and blues. My oranges need reinvigorating too because I have used most of them! I adore Katie Jump Rope so I would pick that bundle! I didn't have a stash when that range was out and I used some for a quilt and only have little squares left. I did pick some up on Etsy recently though. You really are too lovely for giving away such gorgeousness!!

Happy Blogiversary! And for the chance to enter the giveaway! I would love your metro circles because the colours match a couple of stripey chairs I have, but I'd be delighted to build up my stash with anything! x
